Dear Shirleyzh,
I am so amazed as well as proud that you wrote us such a beautiful poem with an enormously strong emotion of love for somebody (I guess) in a little bit of an archaic form (if you don't mind my saying so). The rhyme pattern is also very cleverly handled. Who is "thee" anyway? Just kidding.
Being staying in Beijing really taught me a lot about how to survive in a more crowded and competitative world where the life pace is always so breathtakingly fast. It makes me seldom think of things that are romantic other than practical. Poetry has long been buried down deep at the far back of my head though I sometimes do write silly poems myself just to remind me of the old days living in a small town or the frustration here I have to go through in conflict with my currently new conditions. Here I want to post a few of my own "works" which ,I hope, when reading them, you guys could get a sense of childish silliness combined with a mysterious soul that lies within an adult's heart. Don't laugh! You may get something there in my newly produced words of poetic magic! Here they come:
A Headless Bird
This is my dream
That one day 若有一日
I could fly
Very high 跨越
Over skies 高空
Like a bird
Without head;
For in a heady world 因冲昏的世界里
Only a flying dream
Could save this earthly day.
Frank and his bed
---to Frank, my friend plus roommate ----至弗兰克,我的朋友及室友
Frank loves taking a trip
In his bed,
No content springing upon his mind;
Way above his dreamland
Is a timelessly rusted pipe
Browned by an elderly lady’s age.
By his bed,
A childish air going like a whirlwind
Loaf-like, restlessly whispering:
Be asleep,be asleep.
Whatever you say, I love those poems so much so that I posted them here. Ha!
